Context
Candytopia combines Candyland and Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory into a unique museum experience. The experience integrates augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) for attendees explore the physical and virtual realm, capturing the imagination of tech and social media savvy and generations.
Project Goals
Candytopia requested an AR app that allows young people to take creative photos natively within the app. Our strategy focused on designing an intuitive user experience with a modern and fun user interface.
Process
We gathered reviews and customer feedback from Candytopia’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to understand how users presented viewed Candytopia. Most customers used Candytopia as a photographic playhouse that allowed them to interact and experiment with the art and share it with their social media followers. Our goal was to inspire even more interaction between users and the museum exhibition by integrating AR avatars and graphics in the mobile app.
Strategy
Because the museum was an in-person experience, we focused on designing the app features to integrate with the in-person experiences seamlessly without distraction. To achieve this, we placed the buttons on the app in easy-to-access locations to make the functionality intuitive for the user, such as the camera button on the top right corner.
